Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, here are some treats you can share with your favorite furry kitchen helper!

1. Turkey

  • Safe if plain, boiled, and skinless.

  • Use white meat only.

  • No seasoning, salt, garlic, onion, pepper, or spices.

  • Never give bones or skin. Bones splinter and can puncture intestines.

  • Keep trash and scraps out of reach.

2. Pumpkin

  • Great for digestion when plain.

  • Use 100% pure canned pumpkin or plain cooked pumpkin.

  • Avoid pumpkin pie or pie filling due to sugar, fat, and toxic spices like nutmeg.

3. Cranberries

  • Safe in small amounts.

  • Fresh cranberries may be hard to swallow—cut into small pieces.

  • Avoid cranberry sauce (sugar and sweeteners).

  • Check dried cranberries to ensure no raisins are mixed in.

4. Green Beans

  • Healthy, low-calorie, and high in fiber.

  • Serve plain, unsalted green beans (fresh, frozen, or canned).

  • Do not give green bean casserole.

5. Carrots

  • Vitamin-rich and safe.

  • Raw or cooked are fine; cooked is gentler on the stomach.

  • Canned carrots are fine if low in salt.
